5-17 of August you are kindly invited to participate in Intensive Lithuanian Language Summer Course for Adults and for Children!
You are welcome to study Lithuanian Language in groups or individually! Courses are organized continually. We are always waiting for you!
Vision of Lingua Lituanica to be world wide representative centre of Lithuanian language and culture.
The Lithuanian language, Lingua Lituanica in Latin, is very ancient and according to Teodore S. Truston, is "of marvellous structure, more perfect that Sanskrit and Old Greek, richer than Latin and more subtle than all three combined".
We are proud of the fact that our language has retained many features of the proto Indo-European language and that Lithuanian, together with
Latvian are the only living Baltic languages.
Our students talk about Lithuanian Language:
- singing and "soft";
- a little bit difficult and interesting. Because most of the words end with "as", sometimes it sounds funny;
- a very old language and it's probably why it's so complicated;
- difficult, various, somehow unusual, interesting, unique;
- very beautiful, exotic and difficult;
- fashinating because of it's ancient origins, interesting for it's grammar, difficult because of lot things to memorize; harmonic;
- creative, enjoyfull, sympathic, different and interesting;
- a very nice language;
- impossible! But I'll do it!
It's no secret that you might occasionally find learning Lithuanian rather difficult, but we are here to help you!
We are the Language Practice Centre "Lingua Lituanica", which prides itself on caring about both the language and the individual. We believe that
by helping a particular person we will contribute to the preservation and nurture of our language.
All of you – Lithuanians and guests to Lithuania – are welcome to our centre, particularly if you:
- wish to learn Lithuanian
- wish to improve your Lithuanian
- wish to improve how you express yourself in Lithuanian
- wish to improve your written Lithuanian
- wish to prepare yourself for the state language examination
- need to have a text edited
- need to have the language on a website edited
- need advice concerning the Lithuanian language.
Our students talk about Lingua Lituanica
I spent last month living with my wife's family in Lithuania. They do not speak English, and my wife was finishing up her degree in the US, so I was on my own. I took mixture of classes and private lessons at Lingua Lituanica, and by the end of the month I was able to give toasts at traditional Lithuanian parties without a translator, tell jokes and stories, help with the family business, and keep a natural conversation going with my father-in-law for over 40 minutes (he speaks very quickely).I can‘t even begin to explain how important this is to my wife, her family, and to me. I highly recommend Lingua Lituanica to anyone who wants or needs to learn Lithuanian (J Matthew Dillon).
I was in December 2008 member of an intensive winter course. It was great. I got a good basic of lithuanian language and grammar. Aciu (Broder Preuss-Driessen).
I will surely sign up for the next course! Your school is great, I love the atmosphere, way of teaching and this very tasty tea in the rainy weather :) I am looking forward to attend to the lessons again (Eka Siczek).
I took an intensive summer course last year in Lingua Lituanica, and the course was great I really speak Lithuanian now!!! The teachers there are highly skilled professionals, the program is very interesting, the atmosphere is so warm and friendly, that it was a pity to leave so soon. In fact I liked the course so much, that I‘m going to return and take it again this summer (Olga Gurova).
I was learning Lithuanian with Irena and my fellow students at Lingua Lituanica this spring. The atmosphere in the classroom was very relaxed, yet focused on the learning. The teaching material was well-thought and consistent mix of grammar, words and speaking exercises. Both beginner and intermediate course were focusing on achieving conversational skills, not 100% coverage of all the details and exceptions in the grammer. The 150 academic hours was time and money well spent as I managed to have a nice, althogh simple conversation in Lithuanian only on two-hour flight. If you are in Vilnius and want to have good time learning Lithuanian and making new friends, then look nowhere else (Hannu Soini).
I am still learning Lithuanian there. The staff is realy professional and
friendly. I started from nothing and I am impressed how fast I can now
understand and speak Lithuanian. What's more Irena's tea is excellent !!
Merci beaucoup (Jean-Christophe CALME).
